The California State Treasurer acts as the state's lead banker, asset manager, and financier, managing a portfolio of over $100 billion and processing over $2 trillion in payments annually. Elected every four years, the Treasurer handles investments, issues state bonds, manages public debt, and chairs various authorities, boards, and commissions.
