The California State Board of Equalization (BOE) is a constitutionally created agency responsible for overseeing local property tax assessment, assessing property owned by public utilities and railroads, and administering specific taxes. It ensures fair and consistent property tax assessments across all 58 counties and serves as an appellate body. El Segundo residents live in the Board of Equalization District 3, and vote for District 3 candidates in the primaries.
